Boxed lunch fundraiser set March 8

On the heels of a very successful fall sale, the Covington County Child Advocacy Center has announced its spring box lunch delivery.
Kaci Perry, director of the center, said, “We continue to be blown away by the support of our wonderful county! We delivered over 1,000 box lunches in November and we hope to grow even more this time.”
The community support allowed the center to provide 101 forensic interviews and 190 counseling sessions to child abuse victims last year, Perry said.
“These services were provided at no cost to the families,” she said. “Every box lunch purchased provides an opportunity for healing for a child abuse victim in Covington County.”
The CAC opened in the spring of 2015 on the campus of Andalusia Health.
For years, the county partnered with the Butler County for child advocacy services.
The center allows for interviews and counseling services related to child abuse to be conducted in a centralized place. An added bonus is that the interviewer and the child are in a special room set up with children’s décor to make the child more comfortable, while other members of the investigative team watch unseen from a conference room.
This allows the child not to rehash the incident repetitively.
Perry said the fundraiser is also one of the ways the center gets its message out.
The lunch sale is set for Wed., March 8. Pick-up will be at Southside Baptist Church or delivery will be available from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Cost is $10 per box and donations are also welcome.
The box includes Chicken Shack chicken salad, fresh fruit bowl, pickles, fresh baked yeast roll, dessert, a bag of chips and a surprise.
Deadline to order is March 1.
