The Opp Lady Bobcats are prepared and excited to take on Wicksburg today in the opening round of the 2017 AHSAA Class 3A South Regional softball tournament in Gulf Shores.

“The area tournament didn’t start off well, but I was proud of the way the girls continued to fight,” Opp head coach David McVay said. “Graceanne Spears pitched an incredible game to beat Geneva. Anytime you can hold a team that Geneva to one run in the five inning, you are going great.”

In the opening round of the double-elimination tournament, the Lady Bobcats will take on Wicksburg.

“I’ve told the girls for the past two days that key is going to be making the routine plays and getting some timely hits,” McVay said. “That’s really something we have preached all year. You don’t have to make spectacular plays, but if make the routine plays and get some timely hits you are usually going to give yourself a chance to win at the end.”

The Lady Bobcats and Wicksburg will begin the tournament today at 9 a.m.
