Helen Evans Hinson
Mrs. Helen Evans Hinson, 86, of Andalusia, passed away Sat., July 8, 2017, at her residence.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wed., July 12, at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Foster officiating. The interment service will follow in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. A visitation with the family will be from 5-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church.
She was a retired retailer, and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir; was a former director of IMPACT; and a former board member and chairman of the South Central Alabama Mental Health Board of Directors. The Alabama Council of Community Mental Health Boards recognized her with the 2012 Georgia Vallery Award, established to recognized outstanding volunteers for mental health causes.
She is survived by her husband, Harry Hinson of Andalusia; two sons and daughter-in-law, Rick Hinson of Andalusia, and Mike and Jan Hinson of Daphne, Ala.; a daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Carl Copenhaver of Punta Gorda, Fla.; her grandchildren, Erin (David) Williams, Alex (Katie) Hinson, Noah Copenhaver, Hailey Hinson, Carlie Hinson, and Evan Hinson; two great-grandchildren, Bryce and Paycen Williams; two brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Pat Evans of Blairsville, Ga., and Ron and Vickie Evans of Punta Gorda, Fla.; and a sister, Margaret Gibson of Blairsville, Ga.
She is preceded in death by her grandson, Bailey Hinson.
Pallbearers will be Morgan Moore, M.D., Danny Posey, Ed Short, Wayne Johnson, M.D., Trippy McGuire, Art Gilbert, Larry Avery, David Finlin.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Kiwanis Club of Andalusia.

John Kenneth
Maurer
Mr. John Kenneth Maurer, 82, of River Falls, passed away Mon., July 10, 2017, at his residence.
He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, March 14, 1935. He entered the U.S. Marine Corps upon graduation from Berea High School in Berea, Ohio, and retired from the Marines as a GySgt, with 20 years service, in February 1972. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War.
After graduating from the Forest Ranger School in Lake City, Fla., in August 1974, he was employed with the U.S. Forest Service, Andalusia. In December 1974 he graduated from the Southeast Police Academy, Enterprise, Ala., and served as the Conecuh National Forest Law Enforcement Officer until his retirement in January 1997.
He was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth and Gertrude Maurer; a daughter, Virginia A. Maurer; and a son, Donald E. Maurer.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan and son-in-law Tracy Taylor of Pinson, Ala.; sons, Robert, and daughter-in-law Toni Maurer of Jacksonville, Fla., and Eric and daughter-in-law Terri Maurer of Andalusia; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Valerie Maurer of Austin, Texas, William and Cathy Maurer of Homosassa, Fla., James and Shirley Maurer of Old Town, Fla., and Pastor Daniel and Nikki Maurer of Delaware, Ohio; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5:30-8 p.m. Wed., July 12, 2017, at Foreman Funeral Home.
The funeral mass will begin at 11 a.m. Thurs., July 13, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 508 Sanford Road, Andalusia.
Military honors by the U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard with interment in the Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.

Patricia Grimes
Maddox
Mrs. Patricia Grimes Maddox, 66, of the Red Oak community, passed away Fri., July 7, 2017, at her residence.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Mon., July 10, at Red Oak Baptist Church with Brother Eugene Meadows and Brother Mark Perry officiating. The interment service followed in Red Oak Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday at Foreman Funeral Home and at the church 30 minutes prior to services.
She is survived by her husband, Pat Maddox of Red Oak; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Laurie Dean of Andalusia; three daughters and sons-in-law, Amanda and Chris Burbank of Rehobeth, Kandise and Mike Finley of Choctaw Beach, Fla., Charity and Robbie Galloway of DeFuniak Springs, Fla.; 17 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren with two on the way; two brothers, Robert Grimes of Heath and Billy Kidd of Mobile; one sister and brother-in-law, Grace and Buddy Dean of Dozier; an uncle and aunt, Otway and Peggy Grimes of Andalusia; aunt, Mayve Williams of Rose Hill; her mother-in-law, Rebecca Maddox of Red Oak; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Brent and Beth Maddox of Heath; along with three special friends, Mike Fleming, Stacey Kimmons, and Michelle Watson.
She is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Kirsten Dean; and parents, Bemus and Lennis Grimes.
Pallbearers were Hunter Smith, Tyler Burbank, Andrew Dean, Austin Fountain, Mathew Dean, Stacey Kimmons, and Mike Fleming.

Mildred Ruth (Brooks) Marler
Ms. Mildred Ruth (Brooks) Marler of Opp, passed away Fri., July 7, 2017, at Flowers Hospital. She was 64. Ms. Marler is survived by her son, Steven Hodges of Opp; and sisters, Louise Jorner of Mississippi, and Dianne Carter of Mississippi.

Billy R. Strop
Mr. Billy R. Strop of Opp passed away Fri., July 7, 2017, at his home. He was 61. Mr. Strop is survived by his wife, Ashley Strop of Opp; son, Christopher Ray Strop of Opp; daughters, Cassandra Strop of Opp, and Candace Renee Strop of Opp; brother, Obie Strop of Opp; sisters: Lisa (Lee) Norton of Eufaula, Ala., Teresa Morris, Mary Stephens of Montgomery, Barbara Hughes (Walter Ganliri) and Vickie Armstrong; and four grandchildren.
Private family services were held Sat., July 8, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Keahey Funeral Home of Lockhart – Florala 2871 Alabama Highway 55, Florala.

Mr. Mack Harold Fuqua, age 85, of Andalusia, passed away on Mon., July 10, 2017, at Andalusia Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thurs., July 13, at Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Bradley officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5:30-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Fuqua of Andalusia; son, Danny Fuqua of Andalusia; daughters and sons-in-law, Jackie Fuqua, Janet and Tim Cooper, Dawn and Daniel Cate, and Marlee and Bryan Bass all of Andalusia; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. Johnny Mac Fuqua, Lonnie V. Fuqua, and Barbara Elna Fuqua.
Pallbearers will be Tim Cooper, Bryan Bass, Ian Cooper, Daniel Cate, Todd Bass, and Scotty Bass.
