Andalusia isn’t just popular in the holiday season for Candyland, it also boasts a number of locally-owned businesses that bring shoppers into the community.

For Scarlett Strom and Sterling Strom-Carter of Monroeville, Ward and Co. is their place of choice when holiday shopping for their husbands. They spent Black Friday in Andalusia.

“We come to Andalusia for the shops here,” Scarlett Strom said. “We love Ward and Co., and it’s a good place to buy men’s clothing.”

Tom and Melanie Malloy of Nashville appreciate Walker’s Christmas décor.

“We come down here because we own a farm in Brooklyn, and we’ve already shopped around a bit, but my wife is here for the Christmas ornaments,” Tom Malloy said.

Loretta Pate of Andalusia was trying to get into the holiday spirit.

“I’m taking a break from working to look at the all the Christmas decorations Walker’s has,” Pate said.

Renay Smith and Shae Page of Andalusia browsed Pink Peppers for a child’s raincoat.

“I like to shop local when looking for gift ideas. This is a bit of a tradition we do every year, we go to local business,” Shae Page said.

Black Friday was a big day for Andalusia’s locally owned shops, but many expect to see local traffic for Small Business Saturday today.
