Young entrepreneur among artists in Merry Market

Andalusia Elementary School sixth grader Savannah Cotton was the youngest artist offering her wares at the Very Merry Market opening inside The Gallery on East Three Notch Tuesday night.

Cotton offered her watercolor Christmas postcards, sold in sets of five, for $5 per set.

Savannah said she bought some post cards to paint, then decided it would be a good idea to make a print.

“I think entrepreneurial spirit is just in her blood,” her mom, LeAnne Cotton, said.

Savannah’s younger brother takes music lessons at The Gallery, and that’s how she learned about the opportunity to sell her postcards in the show.

She has studied art with Cathy Powell, Margo Russell, and Tara Dalton, and said she enjoys working with watercolor best.

She also enjoys sewing, crafts and baking.

Her dad, Chase Cotton, is a civil engineer.

“I would say she gets the creativity a little from each of us,” LeAnne said.

The Very Merry Market will remain open daily through Fri., Dec. 22.
