PHS, SHS battle to the finish

The Pleasant Home Eagles swept the Straughn Tigers in Monday night basketball action in Pleasant Home.

GIRLS

PLEASANT HOME 45, STRAUGHN 41

The Pleasant Home Lady Eagles were able to hold off the Straughn Lady Tigers for a 45-41 win.

Pleasant Home started off strong and battled their way out to a 14-6 lead at the end of the first period.

River Baldwin had 10 points in the first period to pace the Lady Eagles.

Kylie Wilson and Alyssa Dean each hit 3-pointers for the Lady Tigers in the opening period.

In the second period, Baldwin picked up 11 points to help bring the Pleasant Home lead up to 28-17 heading into halftime.

Sidney Kinsaul added a 3-pointer and another bucket to pace the Lady Tigers in the second period.

Pleasant Home continued to extend their lead as Baldwin came through with six points in the third period to stretch the Lady Eagle lead up to 40-26 heading into the final period.

Kinsaul led the Lady Tigers in the third period with four points.

Straughn began to make a comeback in the final period, but the Lady Eagles were able to hold them off for a 45-41 victory.

Dean knocked down a pair of 3-pointers in the final period and finished the period with nine points.

Baldwin led the Lady Eagles in the final period with three points.

Baldwin led the Lady Eagles with 30 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Dean was leading scorer for the Lady Tigers with 17 points.

BOYS

In the final game of the evening, the Eagles finished off the sweep with a 45-41 victory over the Tigers.

Straughn came out strong and went on top 9-8 at the end of the first period.

Justin Peeples knocked down a couple of early baskets and finished the opening period with four points for the Tigers.

Tyler Myrick buried a 3-pointer and finished with three points in the opening period for Pleasant Home.

The Eagles came to life in the second period and held a 21-14 lead at halftime.

Myrick led the Eagles with four points in the second period.

Brandon Hudson and Tucker Reynolds each had two points for the Tigers in the second period.

Pleasant Home got a big period from Robert Scott in the third to help the Eagles build a 40-26 lead.

Scott finished the period with 13 points for the Eagles.

Nic Woods added four points for the Eagles.

Brantley Kelley and Peeples each had six points for the Tigers in the third period.

Straughn really came to life in the final period and cut deeply into the Pleasant Home lead, but still fell 45-41 despite the late comeback attempt.

Taylor Rhudy led the Tigers in the fourth period with five points.

Peeples finished the period with four points for the Tigers.

Woods led the Eagles with four points in the final period.

Scott finished as the leading scorer in the game for the Eagles with 16 points.

Peeples led the Tigers with 15 points.
