Pleasant Home High School relieved varsity girls’ coach Jerry Davis of his head coaching position on Tuesday.

In 2004, Davis took over as the varsity boys’ head coach in Pleasant Home. He coached the boys until 2012, and then took over as the varsity girls’ coach in 2013.

Davis began his coaching career in Florida at Wakulla where he won a state championship in 1980.

After leaving Wakulla he became the head coach at Grand Ridge High School (Fla.). In 17 years at Grand Ridge, he amassed nearly 500 wins and two state championships.

In 1998, Davis was inducted into the Florida Athletic Coaches Hall of Fame, and in 2010 Davis was inducted into the Florida Association of Basketball Coaches “Court of Legends” Hall of Fame.

Tony Wilson will finish out the season as the Lady Eagles’ head coach.

The Lady Eagles are 7-2 on the season and won 53-34 over Elba on Friday night in Wilson’s first game as head coach.
