The Board of Directors of the Covington County United Fund is still trying to meet its 2018 campaign goal of $120,000 and needs the community’s help.

“We are doing everything we can to try and make the $120,000, but donations have been declining over the past three years,” CCUF president Amanda Wardle said. “So we want to make sure everyone knows why we are doing this and what it goes to. Every single thing that you donate goes directly back to the community. It goes to the person you see at the grocery store every week or to the sports organization that your son plays for.”

Traditionally, United Fund has operated with contributions, challenging area residents to give the equivalent of one hour’s wages per month to support local causes. This year, to supplement its funds, the group added a 5K fundraiser.

Wednesday, Wardle said United Fund still has a ways to go to be able to fund agencies in 2018.

United Fund will use the proceeds of its 2018 drive to support:

  • American Red Cross, Covington County Chapter
  • Andalusia Adult Activity/Nutrition Center
  • Andalusia Community Christmas
  • Bethesda House
  • Boy Scouts
  • Covington County 4-H Clubs
  • Covington County Adult Training Center
  • Covington County Imagination Library
  • Crossover Ministries
  • Florala Senior Center
  • Governor’s Committee on Employment of Persons with Disabilities
  • Lucile Pierce Family Literacy Center
  • Opp Benevolence Fund
  • Opp Meals on Wheels
  • Public Libraries
  • SAFE of Covington County
  • Sav-A-Life Pregnancy Resource Center
  • Tri-City Pee Wee Football – Florala.

The Covington County United Fund needs donations to keep giving these organizations the things they need to be successful.

Wardle said, “Every dollar that we receive can change a life.”
