AHS SPLITS WITH ESCAMBIA: Lady Bulldogs pull off buzz-beating victory

The Andalusia Bulldogs split varsity games on Thursday night against Escambia County in Andalusia.

GIRLS
ANDALUSIA 40,

ESCAMBIA 38

In the opening varsity game, the Lady Bulldogs got a last second bucket to knock off Escambia County 40-38.

Escambia County opened up the game on fire and went up 16-6 at the end of the first period.

In the second period, the Lady Bulldogs battled back to trim the Escambia County lead down to 22-15 heading into halftime.

Both teams continued to scrap in the third period with Escambia County holding a 30-24 lead heading into the final frame.

The Lady Bulldogs pounced to start the fourth period and shots from Shalisa Thomas and Katie Black tied the game 32-32 with just over five minutes to play.

After a couple of buckets from Escambia County, the Lady Bulldogs tied the game 38-38 with 54 seconds on shot by Grace Wilcox.

The Lady Bulldogs got a turnover and then Thomas grabbed and offensive rebound and put it back up for the winning bucket with just three ticks left on the clock.

Thomas led the Lady Bulldogs with 15 points in the win.

BOYS

ESCAMBIA 57,

ANDALUSIA 44

Andalusia just couldn’t get much going in the varsity boys’ contest as the fell 57-44 to Escambia County.

It was a close game through the first with Escambia County holding a 12-10 lead.

The score remained in single digits until Escambia County broke loose in the fourth period.

Keaun Samuel led the Bulldogs with 18 points and B.J. Anderson finished with 12 points.

Lue Williams led Escambia County with 16 points.
