The Alabama Department of Public Health says it’s not too late for a flu shot to help people avoid being sick this year, and urges the general public to follow Fight the Flu actions, in light of the current widespread flu outbreak and resulting state of emergency. Those actions include:
• Get flu vaccine, it is not too late
• Stay at home if you have a fever
• Wash your hands
• Cover your cough and sneeze
• Clean and disinfect
• Learn home care

Flu can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death. The flu is different from a cold. The flu usually comes on suddenly. People who have the flu often feel some or all of these symptoms:
• Fever or feeling feverish/chills
• Cough
• Sore throat
• Runny or stuffy nose
• Muscle or body aches
• Headaches
• Fatigue (tiredness)
• €Some people may have vomiting and diarrhea, although this is more common in children than adults.
