The City of Andalusia, except for essential services, will be closed Wed., Jan. 17, due to expected inclement weather.

The police, fire, and utilities departments will work to make sure that residents are safe and protected and utility services are not interrupted.

Garbage normally picked up on Wednesday, will be picked up on Thursday. Garbage normally picked up on Thursday will remain on schedule.

Mayor Earl Johnson said he made the decision based on the possibility that ice could make it dangerous for employees to travel to work.

Johnson said the city has trucks full of sand on standby, ready to go if the roads ice and it is needed.
