LBW Community College in Andalusia on Friday hosted seniors from several area high schools to campus for College 101.

While on campus, they were entertained by the LBWCC Ensemble, learned about various programs available at LBWCC, met instructors, toured campus, and obtained valuable information as they prepare to become college students.

“I do believe this program is beneficial for the high school students as well as LBW,” Ms. Diaon Cook, the director of student activities and cultural diversity, said, “It gives them a look at the variety of programs, extra-curricular activities and day to day events that we have here at the college.”

Braylyn Sherwood, a student of Straughn High School, said, “I loved coming today, it was great to see where and what I’m going to be doing for the next two years.”

Sherwood plans to attend LBW and said that it is like she has found her home.

LBW’s faculty made sure to welcome the high school students with open arms and a welcoming attitude.

“I really think my favorite part of College 101 was the hospitality that we got from the LBW ambassadors and the faculty,” Steadman Glenn, a student at Andalusia High School, said, “I have been around LBW my whole life just hanging out on campus, but never got to actually meet the teachers, so getting to do that today makes me far more comfortable to be going there next year.”

Glenn plans to attend LBW next year and try out for the ensemble.

“I believe it’s a College 101 is a very big deal because you get a feel for campus life,” Glenn said.
