The Straughn Tigers split varsity contests on Monday night with Elba in Straughn for Senior Night.

GIRLS

STRAUGHN 56,

ELBA 44

Straughn came out strong and held off Elba for a 56-44 victory.

Straughn had the lead 19-13 at the end of the first period and the led 31-27 at halftime.

Elba battled back and tied the game 38-38 heading into the final period.

Straughn came out strong in the final period and pulled away for a 56-44 victory.

Allie Kelley led Straughn with 20 points.

Alysaa Dean finished the night with 14 points and Colby Adams added 10 points for Straughn.

BOYS

ELBA 55,

STRAUGHN 48

In the final game of the evening, Elba was able to push past Straughn for a 55-48 victory.

Both teams started strong, but it was Elba who took a 17-13 lead into the second period.

At halftime, Elba was on top by a score of 28-23.

Straughn cut into the Elba’s led in the third, but the visiting Tigers were up 38-34 heading into the final frame.

Elba finished strong and came away with a 55-48 win.

Justin Peeples led Straughn with 18 points

Trent Cleland finished the night with 13 points.
