A pecan thief who lied twice about his true identity was arrested on Tuesday.

Opp PD received a call about a man possibly trespassing on private property and stealing pecans on Stanley Street.

“When A-Shift Officers made contact with the man he gave a false name,” Opp Assistant Police Chief Kevin Chance said.

“The false name actually had a warrant on it, so when officers attempted to arrest him, he said it wasn’t his name.”

The man claimed another false name before being apprehended and taken to the police department.

“When we got to the police department we found out his real name,” Chance said.

Troy Fantroy, 20, was arrested for using false identity to obstruct justice, a Class C felony, and is held on a $10,000 bond.
