James Whitt thinks everyone should have the opportunity to ride in a limousine at least once, and that’s the basis for his business, the Affordable Luxury Limo Service, which is celebrating a grand opening today in Opp.

Whitt opened the business in November.

“I got the idea from when I used to drive limos in Northern Indiana,” Whitt said.

“When I moved down here I noticed there really isn’t limo businesses in the area. I was actually kind of surprised at how many people had never been inside of limo.”

One of the main focuses of the business is affordability, Whitt said.

“One of the biggest reasons I bought limos that are a bit older is because I wanted to make my services affordable,” he said.

There are many occasions for a limo, Whitt said.

“You can have a limo for any occasion; birthdays, weddings, prom or anything with a large group of people. I had someone rent a limo just to drive to Destin for a shopping trip,” he said.

Depending on the age there is also champagne or sparkling grape juice offered.

“We have features like a stereo, added on lights, a TV and champagne for those of age,” Whitt said.

Whitt’s limo service charges a base rate of $85 an hour with two limos and three drivers.

“I would really like to make my services even more affordable. I’m trying to add two more limos,” he said.

Besides the traditional driving services, the business also offers weekly trips.

“We do casino runs on Saturday to Montgomery as well as bingo nights to Ft. Rucker on Tuesdays,” Whitt said.

“The trips to Montgomery are $50 round trip and Ft. Rucker is $25 round trip,” he said.

“I just think that everyone should ride in a limo at least once. It’s an awesome experience, it really just makes you feel good. It makes you feel like royalty,” Whitt said.
