Tigers fall to Geneva County

The Straughn Tigers put forth a strong effort, but fell to Geneva County 63-44 on Tuesday night on the road.

Geneva County came out firing on all cylinders and quickly built a 19-3 lead going into the second period.

Justin Peeples led the way for the Tigers with three points in the opening frame.

Straughn got things going in the second period with six points from Peeples. Peeples hit one shot and then went 4-for-4 from the charity stripe.

Brantley Kelley also tacked on six points.

Taylor Rhudy had two points and Brandon Hudson added one point for the Tigers in the second period.

At halftime, Geneva County was on top 25-18.

Geneva County got back on track in the third period and went up 42-29 going into the final period.

Peeples and Kelley each had four points for Straughn in the third period.

Trystian Barber tacked on three points in the period.

Straughn continued to battle in the final period, but Geneva County was able to hold off the Tigers for a 63-44 win.

Peeples added six more points in the final period to bring his night’s total to 19 points.

Kelley finished the final period with four points and came in with a final total of 12 points.

The Tigers will be back in action today for the final regular-season game of the year when the travel to Georgiana to take on the Panthers.
