The Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce’s community service award went to Larry Avery. Avery retired from PowerSouth in 2013.

“But he didn’t really retire at all,” outgoing president Vicki Popwell said.

Avery is involved in many community initiatives, but was recognized specifically for his work with Community Christmas, which he chairs. The organization provides Christmas gifts for hundreds of needy children each year.
