The Pleasant Home Eagles saw their season come to an end after falling 18-13 to Houston County Tuesday night in the opening round of the Class 1A, Area 2 tournament in Florala.

Houston County won the opening tip and went straight into their offense.

The Eagles’ defense forced a bad shot and the Eagles quickly moved the ball down the court.

Pleasant Home got on the board first when Tyler Myrick dished the ball to Nic Woods, who put it in for a layup.

Houston County then followed up with a bucket to tie the game 2-2.

Following the Houston County basket, the Eagles went into a full-stall offense.

The Eagles moved the ball around the perimeter for a bit before Pleasant Home point guard Brady Sowards held the ball until the final seconds of the period.

Pleasant Home attempted a last-second shot, but the ball missed the mark.

Going into the second period, the game was tied 2-2.

The Eagles got the ball to start the second period, and it quickly became apparent that they had no desire to run the floor with Houston County.

Pleasant Home went straight into their stall offense and didn’t attempt a shot the entire period.

The Eagles wanted a last-second shot, but turned the ball over trying to get it inside.

At halftime, the score remained 2-2.

Houston County came out with the ball in the third period, and put up a quick shot but couldn’t get it to fall.

Once Pleasant Home regained possession, the Eagles once again choose to hold the ball and limit the opportunities that Houston County had on offense.

Houston County wasn’t fazed by the Eagles’ tactics as the patiently waited on the period to end.

Once again the Eagles held for a last-second shot, but again Pleasant Home failed to connect.

Heading into the final period, the score remained 2-2.

The Eagles continued the stall offense for a good portion of the final period before finally attempting a shot.

At the free-throw line, the Eagles had a chance to take a lead, but missed both shots from the charity stripe.

Houston County then went up 5-2.

The Eagles cut into the lead with a layup from Myrick, but Houston Conty the stretched the lead to 12-4.

Myrick then cut the lead in half with a jumper, but Houston County came right back to take a 14-8 lead.

Austin Kelley closed out the scoring for the Eagles, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Houston County lead.
