The Andalusia Bulldogs pulled out a 68-52 victory over W.S. Neal on Thursday night in Andalusia to earn a spot in the Class 4A, Area 2 title game.

Andalusia got on the board to start the game with a quick basket from Keaun Samuel.

After another bucket from Samuel, B.J. Anderson popped a 3-pointer from the top of the key to put the Bulldogs up 7-3.

At the end of the first period, the Bulldogs were up 18-7.

Andalusia’s first points of the second period came from Samuel off of an assist from Trey Wilkerson.

Samuel’s six points in the second period helped the Bulldogs take a 35-21 lead into halftime.

The Bulldogs continued to surge in the third as they pulled out to a 52-29 advantage.

Anderson and Samuel led the way for the Bulldogs with 20 points each.

R.J. Drish finished the night with 10 points.

“I was proud of the way that we played defense, especially early,” Andalusia head coach Anthony Clark said. “I was proud of the way that we rebounded in the first half, but not in the second half. We can’t relax like we did in the second half.”

With the win, the Bulldogs will take on Escambia County on Saturday at 6 p.m., for the area championship.

Escambia County has beaten Andalusia twice this season.

“We were hoping for another chance at Escambia County,” Clark said. “They are a tremendous ball club, and they will be a challenge for us. We want a chance to avenge the two losses this year, and especially the loss last year that knocked us out of the playoffs.”
