The Pleasant Lady Eagles scored early and often as they cruised to a 72-33 victory over McIntosh in Thursday’s Class 1A subregional in Pleasant Home.

Opening up the game, the Lady Eagles found ways to get multiple girls in position to score.

Allie Garner got the Lady Eagles on the board first when she dropped in a layup right out of the gate.

Amy Kate Bulger followed with a layup and then an outside jumper from Bella Worley had the Lady Eagles out front 6-1.

The Lady Eagles then added to their lead when Hope Gunter picked up a steal and sprinted down the floor for a layup.

River Baldwin then got back-to-back baskets off assists from Bulger and Gunter.

McIntosh got its first field goal of the game with a 3-pointer, but Bulger answered right back with a 3-pointer of her own to give the Lady Eagles a 15-4 lead.

The Lady Eagles continued to surge throughout the opening period.

At the end of the first period, the Lady Eagles had built a 26-14 lead.

In the second period, the Lady Eagles never let up and continued to spread the scoring efforts around.

Baldwin led the way for the Lady Eagles with nine points in the second period.

At halftime, the Lady Eagles were up 47-23.

The Lady Eagles didn’t need much in the third period, but a pair of 3-pointers from Gunter helped the Lady Eagles take a 64-27 lead into the final period.

In the fourth period, the Lady Eagles mainly held the ball as they let the clock run.

“I thought we came out strong and we finished strong,” Pleasant Home head coach Tony Wilson said. “I can’t say enough about how well we played defense. Coming into the game, we really hadn’t scouted them much so we kind of came in blind. I thought we played great on defense and we executed on offense. I’m extremely proud of the girls tonight.”

The Lady Eagles had four players reach double-digits in scoring.

Pleasant Home was led by Baldwin who posted a triple-double. Baldwin scored 26 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and had 10 blocks.

Gunter finished the night with 12 points.

Bulger and Garner each totaled 10 points in the win.

With the win, the Lady Eagles advance to the South Regional tournament in Dothan. They will play in the winner of Marengo and Brantley on Friday.
