A new business will be making its way to Florala and is set to open in March.

Graceland Portable Buildings will have its grand opening on March 3rd.

The business will be located in Florala’s Industrial Park.

“The business was founded by a husband and wife,” John Davis, the owner said.

“It started out as backyard sheds. Now it’s portable buildings since people have taken the sheds and started turning them into tiny homes.”

Davis, originally from Paxton, said he knows how hard it is living in a rural area.

“I chose Florala as the place for my business because there aren’t very many portable home dealers around the area,” he said.

“The closest portable building dealership to Florala is DeFuniak Springs and you still have it to drive that over state lines. Each state has different regulations for the standard of the portable building.”

Davis says that Florida regulated and Alabama regulated portable buildings are two very different things.
“You can’t bring an Alabama regulated portable buildings across Florida state lines. Regulations are based off wind ratings and because Florida sees a lot of hurricanes, the wind rating has to be better.”

Davis says that the portable buildings are useful and have many options for customization.

“We have numerous styles of buildings you can choose from, and they’re all customizable with some of the best warranties. You can use these as man caves, she sheds, or just a place to put your tools. You can customize it with windows, a porch, and even T11 tongue and groove siding.”

Davis said he wants people to know they have options.

“I want to work with people in the area, I want them to know that there are options. We will work with you to ensure you get what you need,” he said.

The grand opening will be on Sat., March 3, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the store’s location in the Florala Industrial Park. There will be barbecue, refreshments and entertainment.
