The Andalusia Bulldogs picked up a 3-2 win over the Trinity Wildcats in Monday’s season opener in Andalusia.

Jacob Cravey got the start on the mound for the Bulldogs and he breezed through the opening frame.

Trinity’s Trace Bright opened up the bottom of the second with back-to-back strikeouts, but then a walk and two hit batters loaded the bases for the Bulldogs.

Andalusia got a hard hit ground ball, but the Wildcat first baseman scooped up the ball and fired to Bright covering first for the final out of the inning.

Trinity got its leadoff batter on first to start the second inning, but the next batter popped up a bunt right back to Cravey.

Cravey caught the ball and fired to second for a double play.

Cravey then struck out the final batter of the inning.

In the top of the third, Cravey started with a strikeout, but then loaded the bases with three-straight walks.

Andalusia subbed in Sebaskin Stallworth on the mound who helped the Bulldogs escape the inning  with just one run coming across to score.

In the bottom of the third, Hogan Nichols drew a one-out walk.

Jake Wilson came in as a curtesy runner for Nichols and he came around to score on single from Stallworth.

The Bulldogs took the lead in the top of the fourth after scoring off of an error.

Will Clark then put the Bulldogs up 3-1 with an RBI single.

Gill Morgan came in to pitch in the top of the sixth inning and finished off the game for the save.

Stallworth was credited with the victory.

“That was a total team effort on a night that we were shorthanded,” Andalusia head coach Tyler Dent said. “I was proud of the way these 10 guys played. Everybody in the dugout contributed to this win.”
