BETTY SUE POPE RABUN

The family of Betty Sue Pope Rabun is sad to announce her passing on Feb. 18, 2018, at Crowne Nursing Home in Montgomery. She was 88 years old.

She is survived by one daughter, Donna Rabun Wilcox; a grandson, Jeffrey Lawrence Wilcox (Amber); two great-grandchildren, Natalie Nicole Wilcox and Noah Lawrence Wilcox; one sibling, Eddie E. Poe; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Lawrence Stanley Rabun Jr.; a daughter, Terri Rabun Hendrix and one sibling, Dorothy Pope Swain.

Mrs. Rabun was born and reared in Andalusia. She received a high school diploma in 1947 from Andalusia High School. She also attended Troy State University. On May 9, 1953, she married the love of her life, Stanley Rabun, and moved to Evergreen. There, with Stanley, she raised her daughters, Donna and Terri. In April of 1995, Betty and Stanley moved to Prattville to be near their daughter Donna and grandson Jeff. Prattville is where she lived until recently entering a nursing home in Montgomery, last August.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Tues., Feb. 20, at Magnolia Cemetery in Evergreen, with Cope Keahey Funeral Home directing. The Rev. Edward Robinson will officiate.

 

TIMOTHY DALTON BURNS

Mr. Timothy Dalton Burns, 20, a resident of Brantley, passed away suddenly on Fri., Feb. 16, 2018. Funeral services for Dalton will be held at 11 a.m. on Tues., Feb. 20, at Brantley Baptist Church with Brother Michael Marvin and Brother Chris Bryan officiating. Interment will follow in Springhill Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Dalton had a loving and giving heart for everyone he met. He felt his personality was summed up with the quotation: “Red on my neck, blue on my collar, dip in my lip, love in my heart, and mud in my blood! Murica!”

Dalton was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Dollie Daughtry and Frances Bryan, and an uncle, Joseph “Peanut” Caine.

He is survived by his parents, Tim Burns and Shirley (David) Dewrell; three sisters, Shanda (Randall) Castleberry, Cheree (Tim) Kelley and Kayla (Justin) Walker; two brothers, Derek (Kristen) Burns and Danny (Courtney) Dewrell; 12 nieces and nephews; a grandfather, Donnon Bryan; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Sean Wyatt, Skyler Smith, Tristan Davis, Dustin Williams, James Nichols, Joe Rios, Marco Rios, and Adam Williams.
