Andalusia Elementary School is getting a brand new roof, likely when school is out.

The Andalusia Board of Education on Tuesday agreed to accept the low bid for replacing the roof from Crimson Contractors Inc. from Tuscaloosa.

The contract calls for the use of architectural shingles, from which the board expects to get a 30-year life.

Crimson Contractors’ base bid was $363,000.

To fund the project, the board will delay replacement of windows at Andalusia High School. Superintendent Ted Watson said it became necessary to change the timeline of the two capital improvement projects after the elementary school had increasing problems with leaks.
