Andalusia schools to dismiss early on Tuesday

Andalusia City Schools will dismiss early on Tues., Feb. 27, so that students and teachers can support the AHS Bulldogs at the AHSAA State Boys Basketball Tournament.

Andalusia Elementary School will release students at 11:30 a.m., and Andalusia Junior High School and Andalusia High School will dismiss at noon. The A.P.P.L.E. Afterschool Program will not be in session on Tuesday.

Andalusia plays Cordova at 4:30 p.m., on Tuesday in Birmingham.

If they win, they will advance to the finals on Fri., March 2, at 5:45 p.m.

The Final Four tournament is set for the BJCC Legacy Arena in Birmingham.

Tickets for the event may be purchased online from Ticketmaster, or purchased at the Legacy Arena ticket office. Tickets are $11 for a single day.

This year, the AHSAA has implemented a “Clear Bag” policy.

Fans are encouraged not to bring any types of bags inside the Legacy Arena, however, the following bags are permitted:

  • Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12” x 6” x 12”.
  • One-gallon clear, plastic freezer bags.
  • Small clutch bags, with or without a handle or strap, that do not exceed 4.5 inches or 6.5 inches.
  • An exception will be made for medically necessary items and proper inspection at a gate designation for this purpose.
