Three fire departments were dispatched Monday to fight a house fire in Loango.

A house on Maddox Road in the Loango-Red Level area caught on fire on Monday afternoon, around 3 p.m.

The Loango Fire Department arrived around 3:14 p.m. to the house, with most of the fire concentrated in the kitchen area of the home.

Hopewell and River Falls Fire Departments arrived shortly after to help fight the flames.

Around six engines aided with the fire, Loango Fire Department Chief Jerry Fischer said.

“The house is pretty close to a total loss. We fought the flames down, put tarps on what little personal belongings we could within the home and then came in with hoses.”

After that, the firefighters moved the salvageable personal belongings outside of the home.

Fischer said most of the damage came from the kitchen area, and while there is still an ongoing investigation it’s a possibility the fire came from the stove.

“The living area was also pretty damaged,” Fischer said.

The owner of the home was home at the time of the fire but was not injured.
