Mediacom employees to knock on doors

Mediacom employees will be going door-to-door in residential neighborhoods next week, the company announced late Wednesday in a press release.

The company, which acquired Andy Cable in 2017 and in the first months of 2018 has been converting customers to new Mediacom service, said 90 percent of the original customers have completed the transition.

Mediacom Group Vice President Doug Frank said he wants local residents to be aware that Mediacom employees will be visible in residential neighborhoods in Andalusia, Opp and other nearby communities between March 5 and 17. “These individuals will be easily identified as Mediacom employees. They will display photo IDs and will be wearing official uniforms with gold and black shirts.”

Frank said the employees will provide information and comparisons of channel sets available in its new packages. Customers must choose their new services before previously-offered packages are phased out by April 22.

Frank described the purpose of face-to-face visits as a way to reach customers who did not choose to contact a service representative by phone or visit Mediacom customer offices in Opp or Andalusia during a previously announced transition period. Most customers who did call or visit local offices completed the process of selecting new channel packages and/or high-speed internet services, he said.

“While our plan is to knock on the front doors of customers with whom we haven’t yet visited, those individuals can still choose to contact our customer service team by phone, or visit a local office,” Frank said. “The objective is to help people select a subscription plan that fits their particular viewing interests and offers the best value.”

The company has offices at 213 Dunson St. in Andalusia and 221 Covington Ave. in Opp. Customers may also contact customer service by phoning: 877-335-7466.
