South Alabamians could be in for some severe weather tonight, Covington County EMA Director Susan Harris said.

Scattered severe storms are likely for southwest Alabama and parts of the Florida Panhandle, according to the National Weather Service.

NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center has placed a slight risk of severe storms generally south of Richton, Miss., to the Crestview, Fla., line.

A marginal risk has been placed for a good bit of South Alabama, including Andalusia.

A marginal risk means isolated severe storms will be possible.

This risk lasts late Saturday evening throughout the night, meaning scattered showers.

The most potential for severe storms will be Saturday evening to early morning on Sunday, according to the weather service in Mobile.

With the storms comes a potential of localized flooding on Saturday evening and night.

The forecast predicts half an inch of rain for Covington County.
