The forecast calls for a beautiful weather for this weekend’s Opp Rattlesnake Rodeo.

In fact, the forecast is mostly sunny for Saturday with a high of 78 degrees.

Sunday’s forecast is mostly sunny with a high of 82 degrees.

“We’ve had a big success in the races (The Rattler), the beauty pageant and the golf tournament,” Mayor Becky Bracke said.

“Saturday will be pretty and it should make for a great day.”

Bracke said that Sunday will be a big day for the Rattlesnake Rodeo.

“The governor, Kay Ivey, will be introducing the Charlie Daniels band. There will also be a band from Fort Rucker, Rolling Thunder, to honor all veterans.”

Bracke reminded local residents to be aware of all the traffic coming into Opp this weekend.

“Be aware of your surroundings. There will be so many people coming into Opp.”

Those who wish to participate in the Opp Rattlesnake Rodeo 5K can still sign up through the Opp City Hall.

“We have around 200 signed up,” Gary Strickland, council member and coordinator of the 5K, said.

“I ordered about 210 shirts, so there are still some shirts left.”

Strickland said that there is still an option to sign up, even on race day.

“On race day the price will be $30 and there is no guarantee for a shirt.”

There will be a lot of people to sign up on race day, Strickland said.

“We have around 40 sign-ups on race day,” he said.

“We also have around 120 total awards to give out, with a $50 cash prize to top overall male and female as well as overall male and female walker. There is an award for every age group. This year we are also awarding master awards and grandmaster awards.”

Race day registration and packet pickup starts at 7 a.m. at the Opp High School commons area. The race will begin at 9 a.m., rain or shine.

The Opp Rattlesnake Rodeo will be held at the Channel-Lee stadium on March 24-25, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Saturday night’s musical entertainment will be Riley Green and BlackJack Billy.

Advance tickets are available in the Opp City Hall during business hours.
