The Andalusia Bulldogs got a strong pitching performance from Ethan Wilson to help give them a 3-2 victory over Opp in the final day of the Butch Youman’s Memorial tournament in Opp.

With the win, Andalusia finished second behind W.S. Neal in the tournament.

Kody Richburg got the start on the mound for Opp and kept the Bulldogs off the board in the opening frame.

In the bottom of the first inning, Wilson struck out the first batter he faced before back-to-back walks put the Bulldogs in a jam.

Ethan Baker gave the Bobcats their only runs of the game when he ripped a pitch into the gap in right center to score Lane Worley and Richburg.

Chip Morgan led off the top of the second inning with a single and then moved to second on a single from Jacob Cravey.

The Bulldogs then loaded the bases with two outs after Gill Morgan drew a walk.

Wilson followed with a scorching single that allowed two runs to score and tie the game.

In the bottom of the second, Wilson began grooving.

Wilson got the first batter to ground out to third and then struck out the next two batters.

The Bulldogs went back to work in the top of third inning when Hogan Nichols got the frame going with a single.

After the single, Richburg appeared to be dealing with some discomfort in his throwing elbow and threw the next two pitches to the back stop, allowing the Andalusia runner to move around to third.

Richburg was then removed from the game and was replaced with Logan Ross.

Sebaskin Stallworth then drove in the runner with a sacrifice fly to give the Bulldogs a 3-2 lead.

Ross then struck out the next two batters to end the inning.

In the bottom of the third inning, Wilson continued to deal on the mound as he struck out the Bobcats in order.

Ross struck out the first batter he faced in the top of the fourth inning, but then the Bulldogs loaded up the bases with one out.

Ross proceeded to pick up a strikeout and ground out to end the threat.

In a game that quickly turned into a pitcher’s duel, Wilson again struck out the Bobcats in order in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Not to be outdone, Ross struck the Bulldogs out in order in the top of the fifth inning.

The bats for both teams went ice cold and Wilson struck out the side in order for the third-straight inning.

Wilson ran into a little trouble after a two-out single and then an error gave the Bobcats some life in the bottom of the seventh, but Wilson settled down and got the final out of the game to give the Bulldogs the win.
