Baldwin is finalist for 1A POY

Pleasant Home High School’s River Baldwin has been named a finalist for the ASWA Class 1A Player of the Year.

The awards will be presented on April 10 in the Montgomery at the annual ASWA Player of the Year Banquet, presented by ALFA.

This is the third-straight year that the junior phenom has been named a finalist for Player of the Year.

Last season, Baldwin earned the honors of the Class 1A Player of the Year.

The 6’5” standout has dominated the competition since becoming a full-time varsity player in the eighth grade.

This season, Baldwin scored 661 points and averaged 23.6 points per game.

She was a 64 percent shooter from the field and 65 percent from the charity strip.

Baldwin finished the year with 338 rebounds and her 12.1 rebounds per game gives her an average of a double-double each game.

This season, she posted a career-high 20 rebounds and 14 blocks in a game.

Baldwin surpassed 2,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds this season.

According to ESPN, Baldwin is the No. 32 player in the nation for the Class of 2019.

She is ranked second in the state behind Charles Henderson’s Maori Davenport.
