JOHN THOMAS NICHOLS

On Sat., Feb. 3, 2018, the Lord called John Thomas Nichols, 15, to his eternal home in heaven. John is the beloved son of Lee and Melanie Nichols of Birmingham. John is survived by his parents; his sister, Rachel; his maternal grandmother, Pat Northrop; his paternal grandparents, Larry and Faye Nichols; as well as many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. John is preceded in death by his grandfather, John Thomas Northrop.

Although John’s time on Earth was brief, his impact on those who knew him was indelible. His contagious smile, enthusiastic hugs and love for worshipping Jesus spread joy wherever he went. John loved everyone he met without discrimination, made each one feel special and sang praises to his Lord without reservation. Those who knew John will forever be impacted by his life, challenged to love people as he loved and inspired to worship as he worshipped.

A celebration of John’s life was held on Feb. 9, at the Shades Mountain Baptist Church in Birmingham. Dr. Danny Wood and the Rev. Scott Dawson officiated the service with testimonies from John’s uncle, Andy Nichols and Kaitlyn Orr McGuirk.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the “SMBC Hand in Hand Special Needs Ministry” at http://www.shades.org/give or to Sav-A-Life of Covington County.
