The top candidates for governor in Alabama’s 2018 election have raised more than $7.4 million for their campaigns, according to the most recent campaign finance reports.

Gov. Kay Ivey is leading all fundraising in the 2018 gubernatorial race, collecting more than $3 million in contributions to her election campaign.

Ivey reported raising $402,000 in March, bringing her total to $3.2 million since she started raising money last summer. She has spent $1.1 million.

Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle added $137,000 to his campaign coffers in March, giving him a total of $1.8 million for the campaign. Battle’s campaign has spent $479,000.

State Sen. Bill Hightower, R-Mobile, also a candidate, raised $71,000 in March and has now raised a total of $861,000. Hightower’s campaign has spent $472,000.

Evangelist Scott Dawson of Birmingham raised $92,000 in March, bringing his total to $732,000 for the campaign. Dawson’s campaign has spent $411,000.

On the Democratic side, Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox has raised a total of $555,000 for his campaign, while former state Supreme Court Chief Justice Sue Bell Cobb has raised a total of $517,000.

The Democratic and Republican primaries are June 5.
