ACC reduces fees for membership drive

The Andalusia Country Club has reduced its initiation fees for its membership drive, which lasts through April.

Board member John Wells said the membership drive is a word-of-mouth drive.

“We encourage the current membership to invite prospective members to visit the facilities during the membership drive to see what the club has to offer,” he said. “The golf course is in great shape and is obviously one of the larger draws for the membership but a club membership has significant more value.

“For starters, the restaurant allows for a more private setting to get together with friends to enjoy a great meal,” he said. “We offer weekly specials on the menu and continually provide a variety of choices. The pool is a great environment to meet new people and provides entertainment for our children and parents alike during the warmer months. We are excited to announce that we are in the process of adding a diving board back to the pool which will only enhance the entertainment value.”

Initiation fees are typically $2,500, but have been reduced to $500 during the month of March. There are several membership categories with varying dues structures, including a junior membership for single individuals who are younger than 30; standard membership; associate membership; and senior lady membership for single women over 65.

Wells is an Andalusia native who returned to his hometown with a young family. The club has been a great way to meet people, he said.

“For my family, the greatest benefit of the country club is the social interaction,” he said. “I grew up in Andalusia but only recently returned such that we did not know many people on a personal level. The country club afforded us an opportunity to meet people, a setting to foster those relationships, and provided entertainment to draw us out of the routine of life with work and kids. Many of our friendships began when we joined the country club.”

The board recently has added a number of social events to encourage membership. Last weekend, an Easter egg hunt and brunch drew a crowd of more than 200. The brunch menu included shrimp and grits, a pancake bar, egg casserole, biscuits, muffins, bacon and fruit.

Upcoming social events include a Master’s Sunday viewing party this weekend; lady’s wine and chees social; night golf; a men’s smoker; a school’s out pool party; couples golf; and guest chef dinner party.
