SAINTS COME MARCHING IN: LBWCC takes down Coastal Alabama-East

The LBWCC Saints used the long ball to take down Coastal Alabama-East 4-2 on Thursday in Andalusia.

Coastal East got a double to start the game and then scored a run off of a two-out single.

Ko Powell started the bottom of the first inning with a single, but was then thrown out attempting to steal second.

With two outs in the inning, Chauncey Callier blasted a home run over the fence in center field to tie the game.

Matthew Christian followed with a double, but the Saints were unable to bring him around to score.

In the top of the second, Chapman Dean struck out the first batter and then got back-to-back ground outs to end the frame.

The Saints grabbed the lead in the bottom of the second inning when Bryson Gandy blasted a solo shot over the fence in right field.

Walker Messer followed Gandy with a single to left field.

Casey Henderson then drove a ball to deep right field that got over the head over the right fielder.

The ball landed safely, but Messer was held up at second base.

C. Henderson didn’t notice Messer stop at second as he rounded first base.

By the time C. Hendrson began heading back to first, Coastal East was able to throw him out for the second out of the inning.

The Saints then added to their lead when Powell sent a ground ball through the left side of the infield to allow Messer to come around to score.

Chapman Dean then retired the Coastal East batters in order in the top of the third.

Coastal East got a two-out base hit in the top of the fourth inning, but the Saints were able to get a ground ball to end the frame.

Powell singled with one out in the bottom of the fifth inning and then came around to score off of a double from Jackson Henderson.

Coastal East cut into the lead in the top of the seventh inning with a lead-off home run.

The Saints ran into a little trouble in the top of the seventh inning, but Micah McCaskill got a pop fly and a strikeout to end the game.
