Opp blows out SHS in baseball, softball

The Opp Bobcats picked up a pair of wins over the Straughn Tigers in baseball and softball on Thursday night in Straughn.

BASEBALL

OPP 21,

STRAUGHN 2

The Opp Bobcats steam rolled the Straughn Tigers 21-2 in Thursday night baseball action in Straughn.

Brett James picked up the win on the mound and used his bat to help the Bobcats pile on the runs.

James finished 2-for-3 with a double, single, walk, three runs scored and four RBIs.

On the mound, James pitched all five innings in the mercy-rule victory and struck out six batters in the process.

Ethan Baker finished the game 3-for-4 with two singles, a double, one RBI and three runs scored.

Lane Worley went 2-for-4 with two singles, one RBI and scored two runs.

The win gives the Bobcats the out right area title and they will host either Excel or T.R. Miller in the first round of the playoffs.

SOFTBALL

STRAUGHN 0

In softball action, the Lady Bobcats cruised to a 15-0 victory over the Lady Tigers.

Ariyon Hightower had a huge game to lead the Lady Bobcats to victory.

Hightower went 3-for-4 with a single, triple and a grand slam home run. Her eight RBIs is tied for fourth all time in a single game in AHSAA history.

Cassadi Adams finished the game 2-for-4 with two singles and two RBIs.
