Two people died Sunday in separate accidents that occurred within five minutes of each other at the same location in Crenshaw County Sunday.

Captain Tracy D. Nelson of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said Reginald Bernard Howard, 52, of Selma, was killed when the 1987 Chevrolet truck he was driving struck a tree in the roadway. Crenshaw County Coroner Ronnie Turner pronounced him dead at the scene. A passenger, Tyrome Butler, 46, also of Selma was transported to Baptist South in Montgomery due to injuries sustained in the crash.

The crash occurred on AL 97 at the 7-mile marker, seven miles south of Highland Home.

Five minutes alter, at 5:55 a.m., Dillion Alexander Roberts, 26, of Elba died when the 1987 Chevrolet truck he was driving struck a tree at the same location. Coroner Turner also pronounced Roberts dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigations indicate weather was a factor in both accidents.

Two people also died in separate accidents in the region on Monday.

A two-vehicle crash at 7:20 a.m. Monday, April 16, claimed the life of an Ashford man and injured one other. Seaby Gene Bess, 79, was critically injured when the 2007 Chevrolet Corvette he was driving, was struck by a 2005 Toyota Camry driven by Priscilla Marie Powell, 56, of Ashford. Powell was transported by Ashford Rescue to Southeast Alabama Medical Center for her injuries. The crash occurred on U.S. 84 at the intersection of Sage Road, four miles east of Dothan.

Later Monday morning, at 11:49 a.m., a single-vehicle crash claimed the life of a Prattville man. Keyonne Derwayne Holcomb, 39, was killed when the 1989 Freightliner he was driving left the roadway and overturned on Interstate 65 at the 92 mile marker, one mile south of Evergreen. Holcomb was transported to Evergreen Medical Center where was pronounced dead.
