The Opp Bobcats turned on the steam as they blew past the T.R. Miller Tigers on Friday night in Opp to advance to the second round of the Class 3A state playoffs.

GAME ONE

OPP 10,

T.R. MILLER 0

Opp was facing a familiar opponent to open the class 3A playoffs as they hosted the TR Miller Tigers in round one.

In the first game, the Bobcats and Tigers were scoreless through two innings.

A Spurlin Kelley double in the third drove in the first run of the game as Brady James scored for a 1-0 lead.

Opp opened up the lead one inning later with a pair of hits by James and Trey Moody.

The Bobcats scored five times in the bottom of the fourth and led 6-0.  One inning later it was Moody again that put the Bobcats on the edge of a 10-run mercy rule.

After one run had already come across the plate, Moody ripped a double that scored two more runs putting Opp ahead 9-0.  A passed ball allowed Moody to score the game-ending run in the bottom of the fifth for a 10-0 Bobcat win in game one.

GAME TWO

OPP 11,

T.R. MILLER 0

Opp picked up where they left off in the first contest with a strong first inning in game two.

An error by the Tigers on the first batter of the game, followed by three doubles gave Opp a 3-0 lead.

Opp had two more runs come across to score in the second inning in a single by Lane Worley to give the Bobcats a 5-0 lead after two.

Opp scored a single run in each of the third and fourth innings as Brady James and Worley scored for a 7-0 lead.

The Bobcats scored two in the fifth as Worley drove in his third run of the game as Logan Ross scored the first run.

Spurlin Kelley scored the second run of the inning to put Opp in the lead 9-0.

Two passed balls in the sixth inning by Miller allowed Opp to scored their final two runs.

Ethan Baker and Dalton Grider both scored for an 11-0 lead.

Opp’s Logan Ross was dominant on the mound, allowing just one hit in game two as the Bobcats won 11-0 to advance to the second round where they will host No. 1-ranked Mobile Christian next Friday.
