A homeless man from Opp was arrested on Monday morning for a series of thefts.

Lance Cory Bailey, 36, began his crime spree at the Opp Parks and Recreation maintenance building, where he broke in to take a weed eater, a pole saw, bolt cutters and a blower.

Bailey also spray painted other equipment within the building.

Once Bailey had a bolt cutter, officers said he broke into the concession stand and stole an assortment of candy, meat products and drinks.

Bailey then went back to the same maintenance building, stole an Opp Park and Recreation pickup truck, and left the area.

Around 6 a.m., Bailey made his way to Caroline’s Country Store to stop for food, officers said.

While he was there he also attempted to sell the equipment stolen from the Opp Parks and Recreation maintenance building.

That’s when the Opp Police Department received a tip.

On the way to responding to the tip, an investigator passed Bailey on the road.

The investigator initiated a traffic stop and arrested Bailey.

Bailey was charged with two counts of burglary third degree, theft of property first degree, theft of property fourth degree and criminal mischief.

All property was recovered.
