PHS track team heading to state meet

The Pleasant Home Eagles’ track team put on strong showing in the Class 1A sectionals and will be represented by seven athletes in this weekend’s state championship meet in Cullman.

River Baldwin turned in the longest throw in Class 1A girls shot put with a distance of 34-05.25.

Peyton Huckabaa qualified for state in girls discus throw with a distance of 69.01, and girls javelin throw with a distance of 85.01.

Ross Wilson turned in a time of 53.93 to qualify for the boys 400-meter dash.

Wilson also qualified for the 800-meter run with a time of 2:20.92.

Matthew O’Rourke had a time of 2:20.93 in the 800-meter run.

O’Rourke also qualified in the 1600-meter dash with a time of 5:13.77.

Nathanial Erwin had a time of 2:22.16 to qualify for the 800-meter run

Logan Bolling qualified for the boys 3200-meter run with a time of 11:57.26.

Kaleb Piland qualified for the boys javelin throw after turning in a distance of 130-00 at the sectional meet.

The Eagles 4×800-meter relay team also qualified for state with a time 9:33.83 which was the third best time in the state.

The Class 1A state meet will begin tomorrow at Cullman High School and will run through Saturday.
