VELMA CAROLYN WILLIAMS PADGETT

Mrs. Velma Carolyn Williams Padgett, age 93, of Andalusia, passed away on Tues., May 1, 2018, at her residence.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Fri., May 4, 2018, at Mt. Zion Methodist Church with the Rev. Diane Everette and Brother Billy Boles officiating the service. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Gail Padgett Wesley, Becky Padgett and David Wesley, and Tina Padgett and Donnie Jackson; grandchildren, Lainie Hilburn, Chris Wesley, Jason Wesley, Abe Partridge, Adam Partridge, Katie Belue, and Caroline Belue; great-grandchildren, Triston, Ensley, and Dakota Hilburn, James Wesley, Evan, Abbey, and Wyatt Partridge, and Gage, Gunner, Garritt, Paisley, Gatlin, and Saylor Partridge; and brother, Oliver Williams.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James Jewell Padgett; infant son, Harry James Padgett; parents, Leonard and Julia Williams; brother, Robert T. Williams; and great-grandchild, Elijah Partridge.

The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Methodist Church Cemetery Fund: 28938 Straughn School Road, Andalusia, AL 36421.

BOBBY FRANKLIN LUCAS

Mr. Bobby Franklin Lucas, age 79, of Pensacola, Fla., passed away on Wed., May 2, 2018. He was born to on August 10, 1938, to Dan and Iness Armstrong Lucas in Butler County. Bobby always liked to tell everyone he was born across the road from where Hank Williams was born.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Iness Lucas; brothers, Emmette Lucas, John Wesley “J.W.” Lucas, Vernon “Red” Lucas, and Henry Allen Lucas; sisters, Mary Ella Lucas Lehman and Annie Mae Lucas Wages.

Bobby leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years, Barbara Radford Lucas of Pensacola; daughter, Suzanne Lucas of Pensacola; sister, Jeanette Ryan of Houston, Texas; brother-in-law, John Foster “Johnny” and Flo Radford of Cincinnati, Ohio; and a number of loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Bobby was an electrician at Alatex in Andalusia, for many years during which time he served two years in the Army stationed in Germany in 1962 and 1963. He later moved to Pensacola, and worked for Grice Electronics before starting his own business, LuMark Electronics, which he later sold. He worked for Spectronics until his retirement in 2004. He loved working in his large yard and had a garden which he shared with many, including deer, which were a constant battle.

A visitation will be held at 1 p.m. on Sat., May 5, 2018, at Foreman Funeral Home in Andalusia. The visitation will be followed by a graveside service in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery at 2 p.m.
