Andalusia Isshinryu Karate students earned many top finishes recently at the Gulf Coast Martial Arts Championships in Crestview.

The event was hosted by Gordon’s Martial Arts in Crestview.

Competitors participated in weapons, forms and fighting divisions for their age and belt rank.

With it being the final tournament of the season, the advanced students had their points added up from three tournament series to determine division winners.

Andalusia had three winners in the Gulf Coast Martial Arts Championship Series.

Taj Patel won the championship for youth black belt weapons.

Keith Tankersley won the championship for senior black belt fighting and black belt kata.

Jacob Jernigan won the championship for brown belt fighting.

Results from the Crestview tournament are as follows:

Allen Butler picked up a pair of first place finishes in black belt weapons and kata.

Tankersley finished first in senior black belt kata, second in senior black belt fighting and third in senior black belt weapons.

Dalton Spears came in first place in black belt kata and third place in black belt fighting.

Braydon Walker earned first place finishes in yellow belt fighting and yellow belt weapons. Walker came in third place in yellow belt kata.

Johnathan Rudd picked up a pair of first place finishes in yellow belt fighting and yellow belt kata. Rudd finished third in beginning self defense.

Bryden Sims finished first place in yellow belt kata and third place in yellow belt weapons.

Brianna Walker came in second place in yellow belt fighting and third place in yellow belt kata.

Patel finished second place in black belt weapons and second place in black belt fighting.

Landon Caldwell came in third place in black belt weapons.

Jacob Jernigan finished in second place in brown belt weapons.

Ashton Bailey came in third place in green belt fighting.

Anna Martin finished in second place in green belt fighting.

Andalusia Isshinryu Karate will host the South Alabama Karate Open on June 9 at Straughn High School.

Martial Arts schools from six states are scheduled to compete.

All local students are invited to compete.
