The Red Level Tigers are looking to build off a successful spring training as they prepare for the 2018 high school football season.

“We had a really good spring practice,” Red Level head coach Kenny Skipper said. “Our numbers were up this year. That was a big jump for us.”

Skipper said the growth was evident from the Tigers.

“You could really tell that we got a bit older,” Skipper said. “You could tell that we have been in the weight room for a solid year. We played a lot more physical.”

Coming off an 0-10 season last year, Skipper said the team is eager to get back on the field.

“We have a bad taste in our mouth from last year,” Skipper said. “These kids are hungry to win.”

Skipper said the team has shown him they are eager to improve.

“They have worked their tails off in the weight room,” Skipper said. “Coming out of spring, things are starting to look up. The kids have really worked hard and done everything that has been asked of them.”

The key to the year will be continuing to improve all the time, Skipper said.

“We can’t get complacent,” Skipper said. “We don’t have a reason to get complacent, but sometimes people are happy where they are. We can’t be happy with where we are. A motto for our team has to been, ‘Get better everyday’. We want to get better in the weight room, on the field, in the classroom or in anything else that you do.”

Skipper said that the team was given the week off, but will soon get back at it for summer workouts.

“We are going to bust our tails this summer,” Skipper said. “We are going to have a few 7-on-7 tournaments this summer. We are going to be busy this summer. Since we have extra time in the summer, we will spend a little more time in the weight room. We want to be bigger, faster and stronger than any other team we face.”

The Tigers will open the season on will a home contest against Zion Chapel on Aug. 31.
