The Conecuh National Forest will host its annual free Youth Fishing Derby on June 9, 2018, at Kirkpatrick Park located on 664 Beatrice St., Andalusia, Ala. The event will be held from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. for youth ages 5 to 13 who are supervised by a parent or guardian.

The Conecuh National Forest Youth Fishing Derby will be celebrated as a part of the National Get Outdoors Day to encourage families to get out and enjoy the outdoors together. Free food and activities will be provided in addition to the opportunity to fish. Participants must bring their own fishing gear and bait.

Partners for this year’s Youth Fishing Derby are U.S. Forest Service, Andalusia Kiwanis Club, National Wild Turkey Federation, Covington County Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Covington County 4-H and the Alabama Wildlife & Freshwater Fisheries.

National Get Outdoors Day is an annual event that encourages healthy, active outdoor fun.
