BOBCATS ON THE PROWL: Opp looks to rebound in the 2018 season

Last season didn’t go the way Opp wanted, but the Bobcats look to bounce back with a strong 2018 campaign.
Opp will open up the season at home against Elba on Aug. 31.
The Bobcats lost the 2017 matchup with Elba, but Opp holds a 45-37 record against the Tigers.
Elba will be playing in Class 1A this year for the first time in school history.
Opp then begins Class 3A, Region 2 play when they make the short trip over to Straughn to battle the Tigers on Sept. 7.
Straughn holds an 8-10 record over the Bobcats, but Opp has won the last three meetings. Opp won last year’s game 26-0.
The Bobcats remain in area play on Sept. 14 with a home game against Houston Academy.
This will be the third meeting between Opp and Houston Academy.
The Bobcats won both of the previous games by a combined 85-19.
Opp stays at home on Sept. 21 with a region game against Geneva.
Opp holds a 36-24 record over Geneva. Opp had won five-straight games against Geneva before losing to them last year.
The Bobcats then make a trip over to Andalusia on Sept. 28 to take the rival Bulldogs.
Andalusia holds 49-36 record over the Bobcats.
Andalusia has won the past nine games against Opp.
Opp stays on the road on Oct. 5 when they take on region-foe Wicksburg.
This is the third meeting between Opp and Wicksburg with both teams winning one game.
Opp wraps up a three-week road trip with a region game against Providence Christian.
Opp holds a 2-0 record against Providence Christian, including a 41-7 win in 2017.
On Oct. 19, the Bobcats return to Opp for a region game against Pike County.
Pike County holds a 12-7 record against Opp, but the two squads haven’t met on the gridiron since 2013.
The Bobcats wrap up region play on Oct. 26 when they travel for a game against Slocomb.
Opp holds a 4-1 record against Slocomb and has won the past three meetings between the clubs.
The Bobcats will wrap up the regular season with a home game against Luverne.
Opp holds a 25-7-1 record against Luverne.
