The Florala Wildcats came out hot, but fell to the Elba Tigers 60-24 on Friday in Elba.

“It was 24-18 at halftime, but after that we just wore out,” Florala head coach Scott Mason said. “We have a pile of guys hurt and don’t have much depth right now. We did some good things in the first half, but we just ran out of gas in the second half.”

Florala has dealt with a pile of injuries over the past few weeks.

“We have had four running backs go down the past few weeks,” Mason said. “We have just been dealing with a rash of injuries and that has hurt us a lot. There were nine of our guys that weren’t able to suit up tonight because of injuries.”

Despite the loss, Mason said he was proud of the performance from his players.

“We played hard all the way through the game, but the tank was empty,” Mason said. “We are so beat up, but these kids played hard until the very last whistle.”

Jacob Hammac threw two touchdowns to Logan West and one to Shun White.
