The 18th Annual Coterie Run for Kids 5K is scheduled for next Sat., Oct. 20, and race coordinator Debbie Maraman said that she is hoping to raise the amount raised over 18 years to $210,000.

“We have been doing this for 18 years and have raised a little over $196,000,” Maraman said. “We want to push it to at least $210,000 after this year.”

Last year, the Coterie Club raised $12,489 at the event and had more than 200 participants and spectators.

The proceeds from the race go to several organizations including Andalusia City Schools, Covington County Schools, Distinguished Young Woman, Meredith’s Miracles, Relay for Life, city and county sports scholarships, elementary teacher scholarships, senior scholarships, community Christmas, Child Advocacy Center, Covington Arts Council, South Alabama Mental Health and Full Tummy Project of Covington County.

All runners will receive a t-shirt with their entrance fee and any spectators will be able to purchase t-shirts. They are $15 for sizes adult small to adult extra large and there is a two-dollar charge for any size above an extra large. Tot Trot participants can get a t-shirt for $10.

Club members are selling $1 tickets for chances on five $50 winners.

Trophies, medallions and ribbons will be awarded to each winner in their age group and there will be lots of door prizes.

Registration begins at 7:30 a.m., at Andalusia City Hall.

The 5K will begin at 9 a.m., and costs $15 for all ages, the Meredith’s Mile Run/Walk starts at 10 a.m., and costs $10 for ages three to 16, the Tot Trot begins at 10:30 a.m., and is free for children up to four years old and there is an awards presentation in the auditorium of city hall at 11 a.m.
