Swimmers looking for a year-round swim team need look no further as the Covington Aquatic Swim Team Barracudas will offer a year-round swim team in Opp.

“The communnity has asked for this for quite some time now, and are finally getting their opportunity,” Co-owner Darren Forry said. “Unfortunately, in years past, swimmers in our area have had to travel to either Troy or Dothan in order to compete at this level. We are currently in the process of gaining the credentials necessary to be a part of USA Swimming. USA Swimming is the necessary component for swimmers to compete at a high school level, is recognized nationally and seen by colleges as well. This is a great addition to our area and we are thankful Mayor Bracke has given not just us as an organization but the kids a chance to participate at such a level. This is a monumental event for our sport in this area.”
