REPRESENTING HIS STATE: Andalusia’s Cravey earns spot on Team Alabama

Andalusia rising senior Jacob Cravey was 1-of-23 players across the state selected by the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association to represent Alabama in the 4th annual Southeast Underclassmen Shootout in Troy.

LBWCC assistant coach Brandon Ware was selected as the manager for the Team Alabama.

GAME ONE

LOUISIANA 6,

ALABAMA 5

In the opening game of the tournament, Team Louisiana knocked off Alabama 6-5.

Autauga Academy’s Tyson Tubb led the way for Alabama at the plate going 3-for-3 with a pair of RBIs.

Oak Mountain’s Jake Rivers delivered a pinch-hit triple that plated a pair of runs for Alabama.

GAME TWO

ALABAMA 5,

MISSISSIPPI 1

In the second game of the tournament, Alabama knocked off Team Mississippi 5-1.

Cravey got the start at first base for Alabama in game two.

Alabama went up 1-0 in the top of the first inning when Brennan Norton (Cullman) stole home.

In the bottom of the first inning, the Alabama pitcher got the first batter to ground out to Cravey for the first out.

In his first plate appearance, Cravey drew a one-out walk, but Alabama was unable to move him off first.

Alabama got things going in the top of the fourth inning when Kyron Long (Autauga Academy) was hit by a pitch with one out.

Cravey followed by drawing his second walk of the game.

Davis Young (Hoover) then put Alabama up 2-0 when he drove in Long with a double.

Alabama loaded the bases with another walk before Cravey came around to score off of a wild pitch.

Young then scored on another wild pitch before a ground out allowed Alabama to go up 5-0.

Mississippi scored their only run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Alabama pitchers Parker Collier (G.W. Long), Keaton Fuller (Fairhope) and Tyler Bell (Baker) allowed just one hit in seven combined innings of work.

GAME THREE

TENNESSEE 9,

ALABAMA 3

In the final game on Wednesday, Team Tennessee rallied late to knock off Alabama 9-3.

Cravey got the start on the mound and struck out three batters in two innings of work.

Cravey gave up three runs early in the first inning.

Alabama will be back in action for one final game today at 9 a.m.
