JOHN POLLARD DANIEL

Mr. John Pollard Daniel, Sr., 87 of Pensacola, formerly of Andalusia; passed away Mon., Oct. 7, 2019, in Pensacola.

A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m., Wed., Oct. 9, at Andalusia Memorial Cemetery with Brother Ed Ganus officiating the service.

A short visitation will be held at Foreman Funeral Home beginning at 2 p.m., Wednesday.

He is survived by his wife, Faye Hallford Daniel; four sons and daughters-in-law, John P. and Amy Daniel, Jr. of Ashford, Ala., Joel Wesley and Melissa Daniel of Austin, Texas, James Ellis and Jackie Daniel of Pensacola, Jason Gantt Daniel of Phoenix, Az.; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two brothers, Frank Gantt Daniel of Birmingham, Ala., Richard (Mickey) Daniel of Snellville, Ga.; a sister, Kathy (Paul) Craven of Huntsville, Ala.

He is preceded in death by his brother Cecil Tolliver Daniel, Jr. two sons, Jerry Lloyd Daniel and Jeffery Tolliver Daniel.

 

ALPHONZO COUNCIL DARLING

Alphonzo Council Darling Sept. 28, 1933 – April 12, 2019 (age 85)

Alphonzo Beauregard Council Darling III (Count) was born Sept. 28, 1933, in Andalusia, the son of Count and Eva Mae Darling.

He attended Georgia Military Academy prep school, the University of the South (Sewanee) and the University of Alabama.

Count had four children during his first marriage: Dawn Darling (Larry Jones) of Palm Coast, Fla.; Count Darling (Lisa) of Fayetteville, Ark.; Wendy Darling (Terry Wilfong) of Peachtree City, Ga.; and Eve Darling (Thomas Keough) of southwest France. Among them are nine grandchildren: Erika Missonis (Grant) and Gretchen Gludovatz (Brad Lucero); Tiffany Darling Baird (Stephan), Ashley Darling, and Beau Darling (Shannon); Diane Wilfong Darling and Nora Wilfong Darling; and Remington Keough and Deirdre Keough; along with great grandchildren and nieces Betty Radcliff Kleiss, Robin Radcliff Rhodes, and nephew Donny Radcliff. He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Betty Darling and Jean Darling Radcliff, and nephew, James Stinson (Rip) Radcliff.

He married Janie Upward of Birmingham, Mi., in 1982; they have lived in Naples, Fla., since 1995.

Count served in the U.S. Army 1954-1956 and although not airborne qualified, he was attached at different times to both the 101st and 82nd Airborne Division and to the 7th Army during his tour in Germany. After the Army, Count entered the family business, which included a Chevrolet-Cadillac dealership and wholesale Amoco petroleum products distributorship.

He left the family business and became a partner in a sales and management consulting firm specializing in the automotive industry based in Birmingham, AL where he lived for over 10 years. His career took him to Birmingham, MI for nearly 20 years.

Count’s interests included writing, history, golf, boating, fishing, travel, Alabama Football and Ground Hogs Day. He was a true Southern Gentleman who loved life and loved his family and friends. He had a great sense of humor and no one told jokes as well as Count did. ROLL TIDE!

A funeral was held on Thu., April 25, 2019, at Trinity by the Cove Episcopal Church in Naples, Fla.

Family and friends will gather in celebration of his life on Wed., Oct. 9, 2019, in Andalusia, where he will be laid to rest at Magnolia Cemetery.
